Exceptional focal length with high speed
Expand your world with the Samyang 12mm F2.8 Fisheye lens! On full frame cameras the lens delivers a diagonal angle of view of 180° and is therefore perfectly suited for panoramic views, interiors, confined spaces and also for documentaries in such places. The lens puts the subject in the right light. Thanks to the high speed of F2.8, you have plenty of reserves even under difficult lighting conditions. Due to the short focal length and the low magnification, this lens has a very large depth of field. Let your creativity run free!
High quality optics
Thanks to the UMC multiple coating of all lenses and the use of two aspherical lenses (ASP), ghost images and reflections are effectively reduced. The three ED lenses ensure sharp and high-contrast images, even with an open aperture. Color fringes are also a thing of the past. The 7 aperture blades, which are almost circular when the aperture is closed, produce a star-shaped beam of light that is clear and beautiful. The high-quality aluminium tube, the close-up limit of approx. 20 centimetres and the detachable lens hood (supplied) complete the excellent overall package of this lens. The Samyang 12mm F2.8 Fisheye lens thus becomes your creative companion.
The special sight of fisheye lenses
A fisheye lens, unlike a regular lens, does not reproduce distortion-free images, but registers the images in a strong barrel shape. The center of the image seems to bulge towards the viewer. The advantage of this type of lens is that extreme wide angles, even beyond 180°, can be captured. Fisheye lenses are suitable for artistic photography and for extra wide angles. Images can be straightened with various software, but the results are usually of low image quality. With fisheye lenses, it is important to check whether their image circle covers the sensor completely or throws a circular but complete image at it.
Advantages of a full frame lens on a camera with APS-C sensor (or smaller)
Save time in post-processing: A variety of lens defects such as distortion, blur, or vignetting appear on the edges of the image. If you use a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas will not be used in the first place. Thus, you automatically get the maximum quality and no additional time for correcting lens errors needs needs to be invested in post-processing.
