Exceptional focal length with high speed
The Samyang 12mm F3.1 is a fisheye lens for full format, providing full area reproduction.
With a diagonal image angle of approx. 180° at full format, it captures a huge image field. Perfectly suitable for overviews, interiors, confined spaces, as well as for documentaries in such places. The lens puts the subject in the right light. With T3.1, the lens has a large maximum aperture. Due to the short focal length and the low magnification, the lens has a very large depth of field.
For videography
For videography, the aperture can be steplessly adjusted from T3.1 to T22. The focus adjustment is soft and smooth. This makes it possible to smoothly adjust the focus, especially for video recordings. The aperture ring and focus ring are equipped with a gear rim and are therefore optimized for use with Follow Focus devices, which greatly simplifies their use when filming. For better legibility, the distance and aperture scales are located on the side.
High quality optics
The lens has an internal focus with a close-up limit of approx. 20 centimetres. The optical construction with 12 lenses in 8 groups is very complex and promises best imaging performance. The multiple coating of all lenses used in the lens with Samyang's own Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) is standard. It enables higher luminous efficacy, better colour rendering and higher contrast. In addition, a glass surface is coated with NCS Nano Coating System, which promises an even more brilliant image.
Advantages of a full frame lens on a camera with APS-C sensor (or smaller)
Save time in post-processing: A variety of lens defects such as distortion, blur, or vignetting appear on the edges of the image. If you use a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas will not be used in the first place. Thus, you automatically get the maximum quality and no additional time for correcting lens errors needs needs to be invested in post-processing.
