The open aperture of F1.8 makes the Samyang 20 mm full format lens the ideal companion for astro and landscape photography and guarantees good results even in poor lighting conditions. In addition, the Samyang 20 mm F1.8 captivates with its high quality of detail. The object in focus is skillfully set in scene, while (with open aperture) the background merges into a wonderfully soft bokeh. This wide-angle lens for full format is not only suitable for indoor photography, but also for concerts, landscape and street photography.
Optical processing
The Samyang 20 mm F1.8 DSLR is a fast super wide angle lens designed specifically for use with full frame cameras. The 20mm F1.8 lens is equipped with the best optical technology Saymang has to offer. The wide-angle lens is coated with Samyang's Ultra Multi Coating (UMC). The combination of coating, the two aspherical glass elements (ASP) and the three extra low dispersion glasses (ED) reduces chromatic aberrations to a minimum and prevents unattractive light scattering. The glass construction consists of 13 glasses, which are divided into 12 groups and provide sharp images from the center to the edge of the image.
With the aperture open, 7 iris blades provide almost circular highlights in the bokeh, while the closing of the aperture produces crystal-clear, star-shaped highlights. The lens is compact and robust and is therefore the perfect companion for outdoor use.
Advantages of a full frame lens on a camera with APS-C sensor (or smaller)
Save time in post-processing: A variety of lens defects such as distortion, blur, or vignetting appear on the edges of the image. If you use a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas will not be used in the first place. Thus, you automatically get the maximum quality and no additional time for correcting lens errors needs needs to be invested in post-processing.
