Optimum angle of view - perfect close-ups
The Samyang 100 mm macro lens is a classic portrait focal length and at the same time it delivers wonderful close-ups.
Used on an APS-C camera, it produces an angle of view of 15.4°, which is roughly equivalent to the image impression of a 150 mm lens. The very practical lens speed of 2.8 does not change. It not only provides an extremely bright viewfinder, but also the possibility of cropping through the smallest depth of field. The lens is very well corrected and convinces with a very high and distortion-free imaging performance. Of course, all lens surfaces are multi-coated to increase the contrast of the images and to avoid reflections if necessary. Everything is rounded off by a precise mechanism, clear click-stop aperture values in a high-quality metal mount. Manual focusing moves comfortably and easily.
Internal focusing
The lens is equipped with internal focusing. Lens groups are shifted internally, the overall length of the optics does not change, nor does the front mount rotate when focusing. Graduated and polarising filters can therefore be easily attached (size 67 mm).
Optical construction
15 lens elements in 12 groups testify to an enormous effort to achieve a very good optical performance. Despite the medium angle of view, hardly any aberrations are visible even at full aperture.
Built-in chip
AE control on the Nikon autofocus DSLR: please set the aperture ring on the lens to the smallest value (e.g. aperture 22 - marked red). Now the camera can also control the aperture directly in aperture/shutter and programme automatic modes. The transmission of the EXIF data is also secured. Focusing is purely manual.
