Developed for videography and photography
With the Samyang 8/3.8 Video MFT you are optimally equipped for both video and photography without having to convert your camera. The aperture can be steplessly adjusted, minimizing exposure transitions. The aperture ring and focus ring are equipped with a gear rim and are therefore optimized for use with Follow Focus systems.
Ideal for landscape, architectural and art photography
The Samyang 8/3.8 Video MFT with a focal length of 8 mm and a speed of T/3.8 is ideal for impressive landscape shots thanks to its large image angle. This high-quality wide-angle lens is also ideal for architectural and art photography. The 180° image angle and the resulting fisheye effect give you that special effect. Focusing and aperture adjustment are done manually. The close-up limit is 9 cm! The lens is only suitable for cameras with MFT sensor!
Excellent image quality thanks to multiple coated lenses and Nano Coating
For excellent imaging performance, great importance was attached to optimum lens design. All 9 glass lenses are multi-coated, which prevents reflections and provides the image with more light. In addition, the coating provides better contrast and more brilliant colour rendering. The reduction of reflections is additionally supported by a nano coating. One of the 9 lenses is aspherical, thus ensuring optimum correction of spherical aberrations. In addition, two lenses are made of ED glass (extra low dispersion), which optimally corrects chromatic aberrations.
Very high quality workmanship
The metal housing is very robust and convinces by its elegant appearance. In addition to the high-quality optics, the built-in lens hood, which prevents light entering from the side and lens reflections, ensures optimum image results.
Why the aperture is sometimes given in T
In photography, the abbreviation "f" is used for aperture (from "focal length"). The given value indicates the ratio between focal length and entrance pupil at the lens. In film and video, on the other hand, the abbreviation "T", which stands for "transmission", is used. This value is calculated from the aperture f and the loss of light in the individual lens. It indicates the net brightness of the image that hits the sensor. This makes it possible to change the lens when filming: As long as the "T-Stop" is selected the same for both, it is guaranteed that two shots filmed with different lenses of the same scene are equally bright. Thus, there are no jumps in brightness when they are edited together.
