Versatile wide-angle with high speed
The Samyang 35 mm F1.2 lens is the ideal focal length for ready-to-shoot reportage. Combined with an 85 mm lens, you always have the right combination at hand. The outstanding advantage of the 35 mm is its freedom from distortion: it puts more image on the sensor, but the distortion or receding perspective typical of wide-angle lenses still does not occur. The very high aperture of F1.2 allows for up to 3 stops of latitude in reserve compared to a standard varifocal lens. The light intensity is also noticeable in the brightness of the viewfinder, which provides setting reliability. The very shallow depth of field at open aperture facilitates pinpoint focusing.

Internal focusing
The lens is equipped with internal focusing. Lens groups are shifted internally, the overall length of the optics does not change, nor does the front mount rotate when focusing. Graduated and polarising filters can therefore be easily attached (size 62 mm).

Optical construction
9 lens elements in 7 groups testify to the enormous effort that has gone into creating a high-performance, very good optical system. One lens is aspherically ground (ASP), two others have high-index glass (ED). Despite the medium angle of view, hardly any aberrations are visible even at full aperture.

Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor
Lenses designed for cameras with APS-C sensors can sometimes be used on cameras with full-frame sensors (mainly by using an adapter). However, due to the significantly smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the edges are shown in black. The usable area of the image photographed with a full-frame camera therefore corresponds to that of a camera with an APS-C sensor. The images must therefore be cropped in post-processing. Using APS-C lenses on full-frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.
