Versatile telephoto lens with fast speed
With a light telephoto focal length on APS-C, the 50 mm is a compact lens for mirrorless system cameras. It is versatile and especially suitable for portrait and landscape photography. In particular, low light or shallow depth-of-field shots can be ideally captured thanks to a very high f/1.2 speed. With an angle of view of approx. 31°, the lens achieves images from a natural perspective. The aperture can be adjusted from f/1.2 to f/16. The focus adjustment is gentle and smooth.
High quality optics
The lens features an aperture with 9 blades, which create an almost circular opening and thus guarantees a harmonious bokeh. A particularly high-quality optical construction consisting of 9 multi-coated glass lenses achieves excellent imaging results. In addition, 2 aspherical lenses ensure the best possible correction of chromatic aberrations. Lateral incident stray light and lens reflections are prevented by a lens hood that can also be removed. The robust lens is focusing internally, which does not change the overall length of the optics. Filters do not rotate either. Focusing is done manually.
Crop factor for MFT
Please note: Compared to the full format, APS-C has a crop factor of 1.6. MFT has a crop factor of 2. This means that on an MFT camera, the crop factor 2 also applies to APS-C lenses like this one. Advantage: Edge blur and other aberrations that tend to occur at the edge do not even appear in the image with MFT sensors.
Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor
Lenses developed for cameras with APS-C sensor can be used partially (mainly by using an adapter) on cameras with full format sensor. Due to the significantly smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the edges are black. The usable area of the image photographed with a full format camera thus corresponds to that of a camera with an APS-C sensor. Thus, the images have to be trimmed during the post-processing. The use of APS-C lenses on full format cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended. In the video area, however, Open Gate can be shot this way, the framing is then done in postproduction.
