Ultra wide angle photo lens
The Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 Canon RF is a full frame lens for the Canon EOS R and EOS RP full frame cameras. This prime lens combines a wide field of view of 113.9° with a short focal length and great depth of field. From the centre to the corner of the wide 113.9-degree image angle, the image quality is uniformly brilliant. This ultra wide angle lens has been specially designed for mirrorless cameras and is therefore more compact and lighter than comparable focal lengths for DSLRs. The lighter construction also allows the autofocus to work even faster. This gives it the fastest, most accurate and quietest autofocus from Samyang (compared to previous AF 14mm F2.8 lenses). The ultra wide angle lens delivers the well-known Samyang image quality. In the balanced bokeh, the 7 rounded aperture blades produce beautiful highlights. At small apertures, these also produce clear starbursts. The lens is ideal for landscape and night shots, astrophotography and reports, as well as for unusual portraits.
Manufacturing
The net weight of the lens is only 484 g (without lens hood and protective cap). The lens hood is fixed, with a total weight of 523 g. The optical construction of 14 elements in 10 groups provides a uniformly high resolution from the center to the edge. Three aspherical lenses (ASP), one high refractive lens (HR), two extremely low dispersion lenses (ED) and Samyang's Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) effectively prevent distortion and chromatic aberrations and deliver crystal clear resolution. The lens is protected from light rain and snow.
Properties
Thanks to the integrated AF/MF switch, it takes just one second to switch from autofocus to manual operation. With a close-up limit of just 20cm, you can take more vivid close-ups, especially with food, animal and indoor motifs. For portraits with this focal length, it is recommended to choose a composition where the subject is not too close to the camera. The lens ensures successful wide-angle shots and is especially interesting for photojournalists, landscape and astro photographers as well as all those who like working with large perspectives.
