Rediscovering the classic portrait focal length
In the past, 75 mm was considered the ideal focal length for portraits, not the 85 mm used today. The advantage: the photographer has more leeway in image composition, because the picture angle of 32.9° (at full format, 21.9° at APS-C) leaves more room. The photographer can also get closer to the model during the shooting, which is especially beneficial for the atmosphere of coziness between photographer and model during elaborate studio productions. In short: The focal length of 75mm creates unique images that stand out clearly from the usual portraits.

Tiny but Absolute". Small and absolutely brilliant!
With the AF 75mm F1.8 FE, Samyang expands the "Tiny" series of compact, lightweight lenses for Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras with the exotic portrait focal length of 75mm. Now, the focal lengths 18 mm, 24 mm, 35 mm, 45 mm and 75 mm are available. With a length of only 69 mm and a diameter of 65 mm, the lens is particularly compact and, with a weight of only 230 grams, a lightweight. The filter thread has a diameter of 58 mm, the lens hood is removable. For highest image quality, 10 elements in 9 groups, including 2 high refractive glass (HR) and 3 extremely low dispersion (ED) glass lenses, provide the highest image quality. All glass elements are multi-coated with Samyang's own Ultra Multi Coating (UMC). The coating prevents reflections and chromatic aberrations and also ensures an exact colour reproduction. Due to the 9 blades of the aperture, highlights in the bokeh appear as nice round circles. Together with the extremely high glass quality of the lenses, this results in a fantastic lens that delivers images which are crystal clear from the centre to the outermost edges and are absolutely sharp, even with an open aperture.

New Custom Switch
New on this lens is the Custom Switch, where you would expect to find the AF/MF switch. It can be set between Mode 1 and Mode 2. The special feature: The two switch positions can be configured by the user. This is done by connecting the lens to the computer via a Lens Station and the Lens Manager software. Currently, the modes "manual focus", "manual aperture" and "auto focus" can be freely assigned to both switch positions. Via a firmware update, which is also installed via the Lens Station and the Lens Manager, further modes can be added as soon as Samyang launches them. The Lens Station is generally used to install firmware updates on lenses. You can use it to customize the lens to your individual requirements.

Super fast autofocus, silent as a whisper
Thanks to a linear stepper motor, the autofocus is quiet, fast and accurate. It takes between just 0.12 and 0.20 seconds to move between the outermost positions in the lens, depending on the focus preference selected and the direction of movement, making it the perfect companion for use with moving subjects. At just 23.03 dB, the AF 75mm F1.8's focus is as quiet as a whisper. This also makes the lens ideal for filming with autofocus.

Suitable for portrait, travel, city and details
