Expressive and bright landscape shots
Thanks to its high depth of field, the Samyang 16/2.0 lens with 80° angle of view is not only ideal for expressive landscape shots, but also as a universal wide-angle and reportage lens. The high lens speed of 1:2.0 allows you to work safely even in unfavourable light conditions for optimal shots with sufficient light reserves. The 80° angle of view is easily illuminated by many system flashes. (80° corresponds almost to a 24 mm in 35 mm format). A minimum shooting distance of 20 cm provides reserves for dynamic close-ups with expressive backgrounds. Focusing and aperture adjustment are manual.
Sophisticated optical design for outstanding image quality
The excellent image quality is achieved by a sophisticated optical construction with 13 multi-coated glass lenses. Two of them are aspherically ground, two others are made of highly refractive ED glass (Extra Low Dispersion). By using these types of glass, colour and aperture errors are corrected almost perfectly, so that the image quality becomes outstanding. The multi-coated lenses also prevent reflections, which you will notice in the overall contrast of the image. Finally, the colour rendition will be much more brilliant than when using single-coated lenses.
High-quality workmanship
The metal frame is very robust and impresses with its noble appearance. In addition to the high-quality optics, the removable lens hood, which prevents stray light and lens reflections from the sides, ensures optimal image results and further design possibilities. The front mount has a filter thread with a diameter of 77 mm.
Built-in chip
A chip built into the lens makes it possible to work with exposure or programme automatic. In addition, EXIF data such as aperture, ISO value or exposure time are transferred.
Note:When using the optics on a Nikon autofocus DSLR, please set the aperture ring on the lens to the smallest value, the red marked aperture 22. Now a transfer of the EXIF data is ensured, the camera can now control the aperture directly in the modes time/aperture and programme automatic. The focusing is purely manual.
Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor
Lenses designed for cameras with an APS-C sensor can sometimes be used (mainly by using an adapter) on cameras with a full-frame sensor. However, due to the much smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the edges will be black. The usable area of the image photographed with a full-frame camera therefore corresponds to that of a camera with an APS-C sensor. The images must therefore be cropped in post-processing. Using APS-C lenses on full-frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.
