Detail, landscape and portrait
The Samyang 135/2.2 lens brings out details without bringing the typical raking telephoto effect into the picture. It is more than superior to the standard varifocal lens of the digital camera due to its freedom from distortion and aperture. It can be handled freehand, even snapshots are no problem with this focal length. Users of an APS-C camera will be pleased: they finally have a medium-length landscape lens that corresponds to the image impression of a 200 mm small-format lens, and with a fabulous aperture that allows safe work and unprecedented shots.
Superior lens speed
Usually, the relative aperture (lens speed) of a 135 mm is around 1:2.8 or 1:3.5. Especially with this medium-length landscape and portrait focal length, a larger aperture has been missed very often - or is simply hard to finance. The Samyang 135 mm with an aperture of 2.0 is 100 % faster than the competition on the market. This not only allows hand-held shots in critical lighting conditions, but also brings creative highlights by virtually freeing up the subject: the depth of field is half that of a 135 mm with a 2.8 aperture. At the same time, the viewfinder is twice as bright, which helps enormously with image assessment.
High quality optics
The lens has a very innovative optical design: with 11 lenses in 7 groups, together with a lens made of highly refractive ED glass, it ensures excellent imaging even at close range. The close-up limit of 80 cm is deliberately kept very low - concentration on detail is easy with this lens. Mechanically, the barrel does not rotate when focusing (this makes the use of 77 mm polarising filters much easier) and the overall length does not change - regardless of whether you are working at infinity or at 80 cm focusing distance. This is achieved by a second inner tube, which is moved inside the outer mount for focusing. Another advantage: the centre of gravity remains almost the same. The fine focus distribution is achieved by an almost circular aperture with 9 blades. All glass-air surfaces are of course provided with an ultra multi-coating.
Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor
Save time in post-processing. A lot of lens aberrations like distortion, edge blur or vignetting occur on the outer areas of the image. If you use a lens calculated for full format on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. This way you get the maximum quality. Additional post-processing time to correct lens errors is therefore not necessary.
