Expressive and fast landscape shots
Thanks to its high depth of field, the Samyang 16mm F2.0 lens with 80° angle of view is not only ideal for expressive landscape shots, but also as a universal wide-angle and reportage lens. The high aperture of F2.0 makes it possible to work safely even in unfavourable light conditions for optimal shots with sufficient light reserves. The 80° angle of view is easily illuminated by many system flashes. (80° corresponds almost to a 24 mm in small-format). The closest focusing distance of 20 cm offers reserves for dynamic close-ups with expressive backgrounds. Focusing and aperture adjustment are manual.
Sophisticated optical design for outstanding image quality
A sophisticated optical construction with 13 multi-coated glass lenses, including two aspherical lenses, ensures particularly high imaging performance. Thanks to the use of ED glass, colour and aperture errors are compensated for, so that no disturbing colour fringes occur and high image quality is guaranteed. The multi-coated lenses prevent reflections and thus make more light available to the image. In addition, the coating also increases contrast and produces a more brilliant colour rendition.
High-quality workmanship
The metal housing is very robust and impresses with its noble appearance. In addition to the high-quality optics, the removable lens hood, which prevents stray light and lens reflections from the sides, ensures optimal image results and further design possibilities. The filter thread has a diameter of 77 mm.
Using an APS-C lens on a camera with a full-frame sensor
Lenses designed for cameras with an APS-C sensor can sometimes be used (mainly by using an adapter) on cameras with a full-frame sensor. Since the image circle of APS-C lenses is smaller than a full-frame sensor, black borders will appear. The usable area of the image photographed with a full-frame camera is therefore the same as that of a camera with an APS-C sensor, but working with Open Gate and subsequent framing is possible. However, the images must be cropped in post-processing in any case. Using APS-C lenses on full-frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.
