Ideal for architecture, landscape and art photography
Dynamics and abundant image detail can be spotted immediately when shooting with the Samyang 12/2.0. The short focal length of 12 mm gives you a convincingly large image angle of 99° (83° at MFT). The picture size is almost 6x larger than the standard focal length, so nothing stands in the way of expressive photography. The high luminous intensity of f/2.0 gives you reliability in changing conditions - at dusk, indoors or outdoors in fog or rain. The short close-up limit of 20 cm benefits a dynamic image composition. Focusing and aperture setting are done manually, the lens has no integrated image stabilizer (if your camera has a built-in image stabilizer, it works of course).
Excellent image quality thanks to multiple-coated lens surfaces and Nano Coating
For excellent imaging performance, great importance was laid on optimum lens design. Two of the 12 lenses are aspherical for excellent correction of aberrations. In addition, one lens is made of ED glass (extra low dispersion), which results in a fine colour rendering. All 12 glass lenses are multi-coated, which prevents reflections and increases the contrast in the image as well as providing a brilliant color reproduction. 2 lens surfaces are nanocoated, which ensures an even better beam transmission. The Samyang 12mm F2.0 delivers very good image quality even with the aperture fully open. The 6 aperture blades are almost circular when the aperture is open, the highlights are star-shaped when the aperture is reduced.
Small, lightweight and compact
The Samyang wide-angle lens is designed and engineered for system cameras with an APS-C sensor. It convinces by its small dimensions (only 72 mm overall length) and the low weight of only 235 g. In addition, it impresses with its high mechanical quality thanks to a high-quality aluminium alloy.
Available for various camera mounts
The Samyang 12mm F2.0 lens is available in black or silver for the following camera mounts: Sony E, Fuji X, Canon EOS M, Micro-Four-Thirds (MFT) and Samsung NX.
Using an APS-C lens on a camera with full-frame sensor
Some lenses developed for cameras with APS-C sensors can also be used on cameras with full-format sensors (mainly by using an adapter). Due to the significantly smaller image circle of APS-C lenses, the sensor area outside the image circle is black. The usable area of the image photographed with a full format camera thus equals that of a camera with an APS-C sensor and is correspondingly smaller. Therefore, the images have to be trimmed during post processing. In the video field, this method requires framing in post-production. The use of APS-C lenses on full frame cameras is therefore possible, but not recommended.
